Switzerland: 3.65GW of cumulative solar installations by the end of December 2021

Swiss Federal Energy recently revealed that Switzerland will deploy about 683MW of pv capacity in 2021, an increase of 43% compared to the previous year.

“This trend will continue in 2022, with 850MW to 900MW expected to be deployed,” said the Swiss Solar Professional Association.

The residential solar sector grew by about 60% last year, while the industrial and commercial sector grew by about 53%. The average size of new pv systems was 25.3 kilowatts, indicating growth in utility-scale solar as well.

By the end of December, Switzerland had accumulated 3.65GW of installed solar capacity, which is enough to meet about 6% of the world’s electricity demand. (Credit: Polaris)
